Jenna Worrell 2019

It’s a fact: Fashion trends influence the retail sector, even if you’re not in the clothing business. The colors we see on the catwalk tend to show up in all areas of design, including visual merchandising. From store windows to product displays, retailers showcase what consumers crave.

And each season, the Pantone Color Institute releases a color trend report to highlight the top colors fashion designers showing at NY Fashion Week will be featuring in their collections for the upcoming season. The trend guide acts as a quick reference for the season’s most important color trends.

Introducing the color palette for Spring/Summer 2019

Get ready to be inspired but more importantly empowered. The forecast calls for vibrant confidence with a little playfulness mixed in as well. Bold but not overwhelming. And definitely not your grandmother’s pastels from springs gone by.

In the most recent Pantone Color Institute Trend Report, you’ll find the top 12 colors for spring/summer 2019:

  • Pantone 17-1564 Fiesta
  • Pantone 19-1862 Jester Red
  • Pantone 15-1264 Turmeric
  • Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral
  • Pantone 18-2045 Pink Peacock
  • Pantone 17-0542 Pepper Stem
  • Pantone 13-0850 Aspen Gold
  • Pant-one 19-4150 Princess Blue
  • Pantone 18-1031 Toffee
  • Pantone 15-0960 Mango Mojito
  • Pantone 18-0416 Terrarium Moss
  • Pantone 14-2008 Sweet Lilac

Living Coral is the 2019 Color of the Year. Pantone describes Living Coral as “an animated, life-affirming shade of orange, with golden undertones.”

Contrast with neutral shades

The trend report also provides a current take on four classic neutrals, which serve as a good foundation for color contrasts:

  • Pantone 13-0919 Soybean
  • Pantone 19-3810 Eclipse
  • Pantone 11-0106 Sweet Corn
  • Pantone 19-0805 Brown Granite
